During the meal, I had to go to the toilet. When I came back, I saw that Mr Wu was smoking a cigarette and using the bread plate as an ashtray. I looked at this in horror. We have a' no-smoking policy in all public buildings here in America. I told Mr Wu this and he was shocked at the mistake he had made. "Now I understand why there are no ashtrays on the table and why those people over there gave me such a funny look",he said.
As the meal went on, Mr Wu got louder and louder as he drank more and more "tea"; Finally we finished the meal. I wanted to pay the bill and take Mr Wu back to his hotel. He insisted on paying the bill as he was in America on company expense.
